Afara wood – local to tropical western Africa. Afara is light yellow-brown to straw-shaded, and the heartwood might have dark streaks. The sapwood and heartwood are not obviously separated. The wood is straight and close-grained, with a tolerably coarse surface. It can occasionally have wavy or interlocked grain, giving an attractive figure.
Afara has low bending strength with low firmness and medium smashing strength. Afara can be effortlessly worked with both machine and hand tools. Afara with the irregular grain can tear. Afara will take a phenomenal completion given filler is used.
The wood is exceptionally light to respectably weighty; delicate to reasonably hard; genuinely impressive; genuinely solid and genuinely impervious to organisms, in spite of the fact that it could be gone after by pain resistant to fungi-opening drills, powder post bugs, longhorn creepy beetles, and termites.
Afara wood has some strength yet is thought of as non-durable and not appropriate for outside applications
